Not sure if you guys have heard or not.  But the Department of Justice has disallowed payments from Full Tilt and Pokerstars (i.e. if you try to cash out, the checks will bounce).  The accounts are now frozen and have been legally seized by the FBI.

This amounts to a seizure of over 30 million dollars of 24,000 americans.

this is no joke

this actually only applies to money that has already been sent out from the sites.  they have their offshore accounts transfer money to these 4 banks when they cut a check to cover that check.  anyone trying to cash out from here forward will simply receive a check drawn on a different financial institution.  this will all go away fairly quickly, the obama administration has no interest in pursuing this.

"The government action came to light over the weekend after checks issued to poker players by the two companies began bouncing, Mr. Pappas said. He said that the online casinos had assured him that they planned to pay players what they were owed."

If the Obama Administration has no interest in pursuing this, why is the Justice Department stepping up its attacks on the processors that funnel the payments from the Web sites to the players?

because it's an easy attack to make for any attention desiring local lawmaker, like the one from upstate new york that started this whole mess. the bill passed, so technically they can try to enforce it, but this is by no means a grand federal effort.

It's the Department of Justice. By definition it is a federal effort.
To say the Department of Justice is "technically" enforcing a law seems kind of strange to me.
