so if anyone's sitting home doing nothing like me today, bluff magazine has live audio coverage of the final table at http://www.bluffmagazine.com/live/. they don't seem to be running yet, there are commercials on it right now. the final table was supposed to start at 3pm but it's probably just delayed.

it actually just started, hand 1 is being played right now. they have a visual aid with the live chip counts, blinds, etc. too, pretty cool.

actually not the first hand yet, the coverage is on though.
so interesting topics on the final table are the giant chip lead that the amateur logger guy has, ivey sitting on 9million which is somewhat short stacked but still like 35 big blinds so a lot to play with, that there are basically 7 pro players at the table, the fact that a douchebag executive from bear stearns has a big stack, and the fact that the payouts from 9th through 7th are very flat. that last one is a huge issue because it opens up a lot of gambling for the smaller stacks. i think it's only 40,000 difference between 9th and 7th. anyway, should be interesting stuff. go ivey.

so i listened to almost the entire thing, it went until about 8am EST this morning. it's going to make for one hell of a final table broadcast once they cut it all together. down to the final two, i won't say who they are but good luck avoiding the spoilers all over espn.com etc.

tv broadcast of everything down to heads up, aka this saturday's audiocast, was on tonight. dvr here we come. maybe i'm just disturbed, but im totally excited to see how the hands i heard play out really played out with the hole cards and all. great job by the wsop/espn folks this year by the way, totally solid show.

also nice job by espn.com covering up the results in their headline and just saying that it was over, but not who won. of course anyone going to check their fantasy football teams this afternoon on yahoo saw a HUGE picture of the winner and big headlines as soon as they got to yahoo's home site so, yeah....

absolutely amazing difference between watching the tv presentation and hearing the hand by hand play by play. it was always obvious how much they cut out of the tv shows, but it's one thing to know it and another to actually see it. the "first" hand last night actually came probably a half hour into the table, the one after that was probably another 40 minutes from there. a slow plodding timid cautious table suddenly became a wild shootout thanks to the magic of editing. good stuff.
